New Knightingale Logo continued...

So I after receiving some feedback from my friends and after kinda realizing it looked more like a toy company logo. I tried something a little more organic...The whole using less color thing didn't go as well as I hoped, but here's what I came up with.

I always liked simple line work and the whole sketchy "childlike" look :)

I have been having some issues with the logo for some time.. one of them being that I always kept changing it because I never really was satisfied with the look. I always felt like it was a good character, but had too much going on and too many colors for a logo.

Ringo and his sword!

So because my good buddy in computer art, Tavvon, kept insisting on creating a 3D model in Maya for Ringo, I finally put together a character sheet for him and his sword :) I'm definitely no animator myself...I think i did a pretty good job ^__^ I'm happy with the way things came out.

ALSO....going into the wood-works soon will be Samurai Chinchilla animated short!
More on that later...gotta get boards and more character sheets out first.

Colonel in Corel!

So.. I bought Corel Painter 11 like a year and a half ago, and have never used it >_<.
I never liked painting in photoshop...don't know why but it just never felt comfortable.
So inspired by a bunch of concept art I've been surfing through lately, I decided to wipe the dust off of Corel and give it a real try.
I gotta say there's some things about the interface that are...let's say not good ;) but I am really enjoying the brushes..

TA-DA! Came out a little too reddish compared to his actual fur color, (I blame Painter) but it's my baby Colonel!

I think I'll keep exploring in Painter...maybe...just maybe.

The New Pudge

So with a tiny breath in between some jobs I've been able to actually get more than one illustration done for my upcoming Storychime, Pudge the Flightless Dragon.

Thanks to one of my most recent jobs, I've discovered and experimented with new techniques that I'm really happy about in Illustrator so here is the final design for Pudge.

It's also a lot closer to my original design for him, after looking at my previous design I wanted to pull a little back from the completely all vector look. So, this time I made sure to have hand drawn elements.

(I've fallen in love with that lens flare, especially for this story since 80% of it takes place in the clouds ;)

3 Little Pigs...the Sequel!

We used some elements designed by the previous artist of the first 3 Little Pigs Storychimes, but gave it our own little flare and character this time around!

So I've really been reworking Samurai Chinchilla lately, I guess I'm still in chinchilla mode from creating my pitch ad.

So here is an illustration depicting Fuji Village: the place where Ringo and all his friends live.

The idea was to combine small animal habitats and japanese architecture in a fun a colorful way...well I guess it certainly turned out colorful...

This new story is called "Patches." The main character a stuffed animal with a big heart for adventure.
This story is loosely inspired by the Velveteen Rabbit, my favorite children's book of all time!

So I've been dipping back into flash animation a bit, working on the first mini-episode of Poncho and Palomine.

I'm planning on making these one-minute shorts:
each episode delves into the photo album, and tells the tale of these little bunny siblings.

(note:there's a tiny glitch in the smoke at the end, but I'll smooth that out when completed)

As you can see, the soup monster finally has a name, Cheddar. He and Munch are best of friends, but couldn't be more opposite. Munch gobbles down his dumpling and avocado lunch (what a combination) while Cheddar politely take a sip of his piping-hot noodle soup.

I was sketching ideas for geishas just for fun (Japanese clothing is beautiful ^_^), I came up with this character and she looked a little lonely since I decided not to put a background, so the little Oni is there to keep her company.

Hopefully she won't decide to give the Oni the glowing fan (nothing good will come of it, I'm sure)
